This page of the book relates to my comic through a few different ways. For one, the airplane in the sky is carrying members of the family from Vietnam to America to begin the new journey in the United States. Additionally, the close-up of the family on the plane expresses the anxiety they were feeling on their trip. This feeling of immense nervousness is something I felt both times I moved.
Here, we see a line of houses in what looks like a pretty nice suburb. This image of rows of houses was very different from the tall sky scrapers I was used to when I first moved.
While there is is no text on this page of the book, I truly feel that this is one of the more powerful parts of Vietnamerica. The way in which GB Tran connects the family's two worlds through the image of the plane is really incredible and adds something very special to the book.
